The Lazy Yogi: Why is Spirituality important?

lazyyogi:

It is not spirituality that is important but rather what it puts you in touch with. There is a lot about living that we had once known intuitively as children and have now forgotten. And there is a lot about living that we couldn’t have grasped as children and now have the opportunity to become…

Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind, Whose breath gives life to all the world. Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Lazy Yogi: The Illusions of Positivity and Purity

lazyyogi:

Two common traps on the path are positivity and purity. These two concepts create many desires and illusions for spiritual seekers and humanity at large.

The idea of positivity is mortal. Positivity has a lifespan. It will not live forever. This is because positivity is only half of a concept….

Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and stars. In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

"In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions. When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?"

nirvani-bliss:

I am now 74 years old. And yet I feel that I am an infant. I feel clearly that in spite of all the changes I am a child. My Guru told me that the child, which is you even now, is your real self (‘swarupa’). Go back to that state of pure being, where the ‘I am’ is still in its purity before it gets contaminated with ‘this I am’ or ‘that I am’. Your burden is of false self-identification – abandon them all. My Guru told me – ‘Trust me. I tell you, you are divine. Take it as the absolute truth. Your joy is divine; your suffering is divine too. All comes from God. Remember it always. You are God, your will alone is done.’ I did believe him and soon realized how wonderfully true and accurate were his words. I did not condition my mind by thinking: ‘I am God, I am wonderful, I am beyond.’ I simply followed his instruction, which was to focus the mind on pure being, ‘I am’ and stay in it. I used to sit for hours together, with nothing but the ‘I am’ in my mind and soon peace and joy and a deep all-embracing love became my normal state. In it all disappeared - myself, my Guru, the life I lived, the world around me. Only peace remained and unfathomable silence.~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

"The Ego, however, is not who you really are. The ego is your self-image; it is your social mask; it is the role you are playing. Your social mask thrives on approval. It wants control, and it is sustained by power, because it lives in fear."

Joyful Abandon: Why does the world need spirituality?

lazyyogi:

The world doesn’t need spirit. The world is spirit. The occupants of this planet suffer from a severe amnesia, a convincing delusion of separateness from one another. Until we come to terms with that, we simply wont be living sanely.

Spirituality means emergence from the illusion of…
